... and now the new york times editorial - stating the obvious: that this is not about stagecraft or the spectacle of the president publicly emoting - it's about decisively, vigorously, and commandingly 'runnin' things' as the goddamn president of these united states. the perceptive elements of that employed reality would indeed be indelible.
i find myself in incongruous agreement (maybe a first!) with stone faced 'hitman' rep. mike pence when he says essentially that the administration had the opportunity to be ahead of the curve of events from early on - and weren't; most folks knew whose "ass to kick" within days of this disaster - obama apparently didn't; and that the president should be aggressively marshaling all resources worldwide to combat this spill - and isn't.
... under the caption: 'sometimes her voice gets annoying, but her work is good' - soledad o'brien. her cnn documentary on the atlanta child murders that gripped the country from '79 - '81, includes an interview with the convicted wayne williams - who still proclaims his innocence. it's a riveting 2 hours of tv for those of us who remember...
i absolutely concur with this writer's ronron-centric observation pertaining to game 5 tonight...
i seem to be approaching this throwdown with a bit of calm reserve - i believe i'm becoming desensitized to these recurring feelings of heartburn and tightness in the spleen (don't tell boston fans) in response to the number of ways the purple & gold are p!s$ing me off.
i find it rather amazing that kobe's response to the- 'why or how are you being countered so effectively by tony allen/the celtics' team defense' question (re: kobe/laker stats and replays on turnovers, halfcourt offense ineffectiveness - especially in the fourth quarter)- to be a blase"i'm not really concerned about it - i can always get a bucket..." hey kobe, no you can't! and you should be!!
hey, i've got a suggestion, LA: let's not get punked, out hustled, or out-gutted by these suckers. let's move the ball with sharp, focused passes, coupled with cuts, back screens, cuts off of cuts, etc... to make boston pay the price with this over committing defense - something like, oh i don't know - execution with a smart offensive game plan (sound familiar?). all of this aimless, clueless over dribbling and then settling for a forced low percentage shot, resorting to kobe with 5 seconds left on the shot clock - or worse, the predictable turnover - is just-not-inspiring - feel me?
let's meet and exceed their inspiration and grit with some of our own (expand if necessary your rotation, phil), hit the boards, the floor - hit whoever is in the way of you claiming this title - cause 'they' will not hesitate... well again, you know...
